Intoxicated by alcohol and drugs, Edwards forced his way into the woman’s home, ignoring her refusals and attempts to stop him. The trauma left the victim feeling “worthless” and too ashamed to report it initially. 😔

Years later, learning of another victim spurred her decision to alert the police, hoping to prevent future harm. Edwards, already imprisoned for similar crimes, denied the allegations but was convicted following a trial.

The court heard of his 22 previous convictions, including rape and assault. Addressing the court, the victim shared the profound impact the assault had on her life, from undermining her self-worth and confidence to affecting her mental health and career.

Judge Vanessa Francis sentenced this predator to eight years in prison, with an additional four-year extended licence. Edwards will also be subjected to indefinite sex offender notification requirements and a restraining order.

Though justice came late, the courage of this woman truly shines, inspiring others to speak out and seek justice. 💪🔹
