Ian Reynolds, from Neath, is now trapped in Dubai and feeling desperate after his return flight was cancelled due to the ongoing Middle East conflict. The unexpected turn of events has him worried about running out of diabetes medication and dwindling finances.

Ian originally planned to enjoy the Dubai Tennis Championships for a week with his friend Michael, but he’s facing an extended stay with no clear return date. He’s been trying unsuccessfully to rebook his flight or get customer service from Emirates.

With hotel prices skyrocketing, Ian is paying £110 a night to stay near the airport, but funds are low, and available rooms are packed. “People are even sleeping on the floor,” he notes. His concern isn’t just financial—being diabetic, running out of medication is an urgent issue.

Ian’s made over 150 calls to Emirates without success, saying, “It’s a nightmare. I’m stressed and desperately need help to get home.” As his medication runs low, the urgency increases.

He’s one of the many British citizens waiting for assistance to return home. Sir Keir Starmer has announced that flights home will be organised soon, but demand is high. Meanwhile, Ian hears jets above and saw a drone strike a nearby hotel, adding to his anxiety.

Ian, who also provides care for his two aunts, says, “I never imagined a tennis trip turning into this ordeal. It’s put me off ever coming back to Dubai.” While he awaits updates from the Foreign Office or Emirates, Ian’s message is clear: “I feel completely abandoned.”

Let’s hope Ian and others get the help they need soon. ✈️🌍
