🚨 **Romance Scammer Alert!** 🚨
Meet David Griffiths, a 52-year-old from Malvern who tricked women into believing he was a retired Army major shot down in Afghanistan. Using charm and lies, he portrayed himself as a wealthy and successful man living a lavish lifestyle. But the truth? He was actually living from pay-check to pay-check. 😲
Griffiths spun a web of deceit on dating apps, conning two women out of over £15,000. He promised luxury holidays, non-existent investment opportunities, and a life he could never truly offer. When the truth finally caught up to him, Griffiths pleaded guilty to two counts of fraud by false representation and was jailed for three and a half years. ⚖️
Detective Sergeant Alistair Frame emphasised the emotional toll of romance fraud, highlighting how victims are left questioning everything. He praised the bravery of those who came forward and encouraged anyone who feels like they’ve been duped to report it, without shame or embarrassment. 💔
If you or someone you know has been affected, it’s important to speak up! Report your concerns to www.reportfraud.police.uk or call 0300 123 2040. If money has been transferred, contact your bank immediately. 🏦
