Exciting changes are coming to Bryngarw Country Park’s play area, with a £200,000 makeover on the horizon! But not everyone is thrilled as the beloved 30-year-old tower slide bids us farewell. 😢 Many in the community are upset to see this iconic slide go, calling it the “main attraction” that draws families from near and far.

While saying goodbye to the old slide is tough, the new play area plans promise thrilling additions. A forest canopy adventure tower, a towering 5m climbing net, a fresh swing set, and a dedicated toddler zone are all set to transform the park. Plus, accessible favourites like the wheelchair swing and trampoline are here to stay!

The park explained that the vintage slide couldn’t be replaced like-for-like due to its age, but assures everyone that the new slide will be just as exciting for all ages. The facelift, courtesy of top-notch play equipment companies, will require a temporary closure from 12th January 2026.
Richard Hughes, from Awen Cultural Trust, highlighted that this investment ensures the park continues to be a fantastic spot for all ages, admitting that the current equipment faced a bit of wear and tear with over 200,000 annual visitors!
