🏉 Exciting Update for Welsh Rugby Fans! 🏉
We’ve got a major shake-up in the Welsh rugby world! 🥳 Merthyr RFC’s much-anticipated Mid District Cup final against Pontypridd RFC has been re-scheduled! Initially set for May 20th, the match will now kick off in August, after the clubs made a dramatic U-turn. 📅
Merthyr RFC initially decided to pull out from the final due to player welfare concerns after an intense season. But after a series of discussions with Mid District Rugby and Pontypridd, they’ve agreed to postpone the epic clash until pre-season. 🏆
Both Merthyr and Pontypridd have confirmed the decision, emphasising their commitment to the players’ health and the quality of the competition. Details on the new date will be revealed soon, so stay tuned! 📢
This move means the Mid District Cup final will now serve as a stepping stone into the 2026/27 season rather than wrapping up this current one. With Merthyr preparing to secure the Admiral Community Premiership trophy for the second year in a row this weekend, the August showdown is set to be a thrilling prelude to a new season. 🎉
