🎢 Remembering Grove Land: The Forgotten Welsh Theme Park! 🎢

Back in the ’90s, nestled in the heart of St Clears, Carmarthenshire, was a hidden gem that some still cherish today—Grove Land Leisure Park! 🌳✨

Opening its doors in 1994, Grove Land was created from a working dairy farm, thanks to the vision of John and Janet Williams. Their goal? To bring fun and a boost to the local economy. The park boasted legendary rides like Thunderbolt, Cyclone, and the waltzer ‘Dance Master’. And who could forget the infamous Snake Slide, which had kids flying down at lightning speeds (and maybe a few friction burns)! 😮🐍

With its charming ‘Barmy Barny’ mascot and relaxing atmosphere, it was the perfect spot for families. Visitors didn’t just hop on rides—they enjoyed calf parades and even laser clay pigeon shooting!
Former staff and visitors fondly recall the laughter, thrills, and an environment reminiscent of a nostalgic ’70s funfair. Jade Walsh, once a ride operator, reminisces about rescue missions on bumper boats, sandbag-loading Thunderbolt, and the unique camaraderie among young seasonal workers. Meanwhile, Gemma Daniels remembers carefree school trips with thrilling rides and quick queues, making every visit a treasured memory.
Though Grove Land closed its gates in 2005, with its rides finding new homes elsewhere, the memories linger on. Imagine a place where the ticket was just £7.50, covering all the rides and thrills, along with burger bars and picnic spots—a true family value thrill!
Today, while loud holiday cottages stand where the roars of rides once echoed, the spirit of fun lives on in the hearts of those who visited. If it were still around, it’d surely be a place we’d love to share with our children. 🌟
