A couple’s illegal side hustle came crashing down after police busted their makeshift ‘corner shop’ for drugs in Llanelli. Leon James, 25, and Rainee Blake, 24, were caught selling cocaine, ketamine, ecstasy, and cannabis from their shared home. James, the mastermind, had Blake as his ‘understudy’.
During the raid, police uncovered a stash of 77% pure cocaine, cannabis, and £885 in cash. The mobile phones seized contained incriminating messages detailing drug deals, complete with price lists!
James already had a history with the law, having served time for similar offences back in April 2022. Despite his past, he’s been warned that any further involvement in drug dealings could land him a stiffer sentence of at least seven years in the slammer.
Meanwhile, Blake, who had no previous convictions, is determined to turn her life around for her young daughter. She’s managed to dodge immediate jail time, with the court opting for a rehabilitation plan instead.
Judge Walters laid down the law, saying the duo was effectively running a drug shop. With a reduction for his guilty plea, James was sentenced to 40 months in prison. He’ll serve half of it behind bars before being released on a licence. As for Blake, her sentence is suspended for two years, giving her a chance to mend her ways.
