🎉 Big news for Newport parents! 🎉 Starting April, free childcare rolls out to all two-year-olds across Newport. Now, parents can enjoy up to 12.5 hours weekly of high-quality, free childcare thanks to Welsh Government funding. 🚀
Newport’s joining Merthyr Tydfil and Swansea in expanding this fantastic support under the Flying Start scheme, a programme launched 20 years ago to help families in Wales. Whether you’re after parenting advice, speech development, or simply that extra hand with the kids, Flying Start is there to lend support!
Councillor Deb Davies expressed her excitement, saying: “Families across the city are being given a great opportunity. Regular attendance in quality childcare can truly make a difference.”
In the last few years, the programme has gone above and beyond, supporting over 13,400 children when the target was just 9,500. How amazing is that? 🎈
Here’s the quick lowdown:
1. 👶 Every two-year-old in Newport is eligible for free childcare.
2. 🌟 The offer extends across the year with 12.5 hours per week.
3. 🏆 Flying Start includes a variety of family support services.
4. 💼 And for older kids (aged 3-4), there are options for even more funded childcare if you meet eligibility criteria!
Spread the word, tag your friends, and make sure every parent gets the news. Time to celebrate this fantastic initiative that’s giving little ones in Newport a super start in life! 🥳💙 #ChildcareForAll #FlyingStart #NewportUpdates
