🚨 NHS Advisory: Keep Kids Home if They’re Unwell! 🚨

As kids across the UK head back to school, the NHS has issued some crucial advice for parents! It’s that time of year again, and with the winter bugs making their rounds, it’s important to know when your child should stay at home. 🤒🏡

**Here’s the rundown on when they should keep the PJs on:**
1. **High temperature?** Keep them home until the fever subsides.
2. **Diarrhoea or vomiting?** Wait at least 48 hours symptom-free before sending them back.
3. **Chickenpox?** Stay home until all spots have crusted over — usually about 5 days.
4. **Impetigo?** They need treatment from a GP. Keep them at home until sores heal or for 48 hours post-antibiotics.
5. **Scarlet Fever?** Keep them at home for 24 hours after starting antibiotics.
6. **Ear infection?** Keep them home if they’re feverish or in severe pain.
**When it’s OK to head to class:**
– **Coughs and colds?** Fine if there’s no fever.
– **Cold sores & conjunctivitis?** No need to miss school.
– **Head lice?** Treat at home, inform the teacher. Good to go!
– **Slapped cheek syndrome?** No longer infectious once the rash appears.
– **Mild COVID-19 symptoms?** If there’s no high temperature and they feel well, they can attend school.
💡 And remember, if anxiety about school is causing issues, it’s often best to keep attending. Teachers can help with support plans for any school-related worries!
For measles, consult your GP immediately and keep them home for at least four days from the rash’s onset.
