đź’” Tragic news out of Abertridwr: Aber Valley FC, the heart of the community, has been hit hard by a devastating theft. Thieves managed to break into one of the club’s shipping containers, making away with around ÂŁ4,000 worth of essential gear and stock. Among the stolen items are a ÂŁ1,000 generator and valuable football training equipment—vital basics for match days and training sessions.
The club, which thrives on community spirit, is reeling from the loss. Their stock of food and drink, sold to fans for much-needed funds, has also been swiped. Despite these tough times, Aber Valley FC isn’t giving up. They’ve launched a GoFundMe to help recoup the losses ahead of their first home match in months, against Treharris Ath Western this weekend.
Club secretary Sophie John explains the challenge: “We’re just a local club, run by volunteers. This theft is a real blow. It’s not just about the money—we have personalised items that made us feel like a proper community hub.”
The local community is rallying together, with a call for anyone who might have information or CCTV footage to step forward. Local residents are urged to check footage from areas around the park, including the library and children’s park, where suspicious activity might have been captured.
Let’s unite around Aber Valley FC in their time of need! 💪🙏 Every bit of support counts. If you can help or donate, please visit their fundraising page. Together, we can help restore the club’s spirit and ensure football continues to thrive in Abertridwr. ⚽❤️
