Exciting news for Tenby! The historic former Royal Playhouse Cinema on White Lion Street is set to undergo an incredible transformation. Plans have been submitted to turn this iconic building into a retro gaming lounge.

Say hello to ‘CONTINUE? Retro Gaming Lounge,’ where all ages are welcome to experience countless hours of fun on both consoles and arcade machines. Don’t worry about any gambling vibes – there won’t be any slot or coin-based reward games. Instead, it’ll be all about pure gaming joy with a simple entrance fee granting unlimited playtime!

And if you’re feeling peckish, there’ll be snacks and drinks on offer, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, with a separate licence application submitted for alcohol sales.
The proposed opening hours are 10am to 10pm from Sunday to Thursday and 10am to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. This unique venue promises to revitalise White Lion Street, bringing more footfall and an exciting twist to the local shopping scene.
The building’s front facade, which is Grade-II-listed, gives a nod to its storied past as the Royal Playhouse, which sadly closed its doors in 2011. Back then, despite being a beloved spot for almost 100 years, the arrival of a multiplex in Carmarthen left the cinema struggling. Now, it’s on course for a bright new chapter!
Stay tuned as planning officials review the exciting proposals. This could be just the boost Tenby’s been waiting for! 🎮✨📽️
