A shocking selfie brought down a drug dealer! Coran Davies, eager to show off his new “Turkey teeth,” snapped a selfie from a dentist’s chair and sent it to a friend. Little did he know, this photo was a gift to the police who were already investigating his friend’s phone. The image, captured by facial recognition technology, helped identify Davies and link him to illegal activities.

Previously, a search warrant in Treherbert had uncovered an ounce of cocaine, cannabis, and drug paraphernalia. The plot thickened when, in March 2025, plainclothes officers spotted the 23-year-old driving through Tonypandy in a black Ford Fiesta, leading to Davies’ arrest. His passenger, Dale Howell, 25, was also cuffed. Upon searching them, police found cocaine, cannabis, and thousands of pounds in cash.

Both men from Porth were convicted of drug offences and acquiring criminal property. At Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court, Davies received a 48-month sentence, while Howell got 36 months behind bars.
This dramatic tale of crime and justice highlights how one innocent-looking selfie turned the tide in a police investigation, leading to the arrest and conviction of two individuals involved in the drug trade.
