Individual Negotiates Deceptive Deal with Fake Guardian of Alleged Child

A shocking case has come to light: A man believed he was arranging to meet a 10-year-old girl through her “mum,” but it was an undercover officer who revealed his dark intentions. Russell Brookman, 46, sent explicit messages, hoping to meet the child for sexual activities. Gwent Police were behind the decoy account that exposed his appalling plans.

Brookman was in contact with a fake profile, supposedly a mother with young daughters on an adult site, but the truth came out when the chats moved to encrypted apps. Here, Brookman expressed desires involving the decoy’s “daughter” and admitted to his deplorable fantasies.

Unfortunately for Brookman, his behaviour didn’t go unnoticed. Police arrested him at home in Monmouth on October 9 after he distributed indecent images and videos. During questioning, he remained silent but admitted his crimes in court later on.

In court, his barrister shared that Brookman sought help after his arrest, engaging with the Lucy Faithfull Foundation to address his issues. His family supported him, with his mother in court and providing a heartfelt letter. With a guilty plea, Brookman received a 32-month sentence, serving half in jail before being released on licence. He’s now on the sex offender register for life, with a seven-year sexual harm prevention order.
