Tragic news from Risca as an inquest reveals the heartbreaking story of Benjamin Gilbert, a 22-year-old who collapsed and died on Commercial Street. On May 23, Benjamin, out with friends at KB Motors, reportedly consumed alcohol, drugs, and nitrous oxide. Sadly, he collapsed outside a local working men’s club despite valiant efforts from both an amazing public and paramedics to save him. Our thoughts go out to Benjamin’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
Coroner Rose Farmer shared that the inquest is being conducted due to suspected drug intoxication, and while a post mortem has been done, the final results are still pending. The official inquest is scheduled for March 23, 2027.
