🚗 This driving instructor’s out-of-control behaviour wasn’t just limited to the road. Timothy Howells, from Burry Port, was shockingly over the drink-drive limit when he crashed on his way to pick up a learner. The incident on the A484 between Pembrey and Kidwelly saw his car end up in a ditch, prompting a police investigation.

Breathalyser tests revealed that Howells had readings of 110 and then 132 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath—nearly four times the legal limit! 😲 He admitted to police that he was en route to give a driving lesson during this debacle.

🏛️ At Llanelli Magistrates’ Court, Howells pleaded guilty to drink driving. His sentence? An eight-week prison term, suspended for 18 months, along with a nine-month alcohol treatment programme. In addition, he must complete 100 hours of unpaid work within a year.
As for getting back behind the wheel, Howells faces a lengthy 30-month driving ban, which could be shortened by 30 weeks should he complete a driving course. 🚫🛣️
Dyfed-Powys Police’s Chief Inspector highlighted the egregious breach of trust, stating, “Mr Howells was operating in a position of great trust and responsibility,” and praised the swift action taken to protect the public.
This story is an important reminder: always prioritise safety and responsibility on the road. Drink driving is never worth it! 🚦💡 #DriveSafe #RoadSafety #CarmarthenshireNews
