A man in Cardiff recently faced the music after hurling some choice words at a police community support officer (PCSO). Jason Evans was strolling through Queen Street when he allegedly referred to PCSO Keith Cooper in less than flattering terms. This caught the attention of the officer, who was naturally upset by the public outburst, especially with children around.

Evans, 43, appeared before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court where he admitted to the offence, showing a rather upbeat demeanour despite the circumstances. With 52 offences already under his belt, it seemed he was no stranger to the courtroom. However, he pointed out a recent sentencing had been overlooked.

Representing himself, Evans didn’t offer much in the way of excuses, but he did acknowledge the slip-up. He accepted a £40 fine for his choice words, which will be deducted from his benefits, along with additional costs.
Speaking afterwards, Evans commented on his less-than-friendly history with the PCSO, admitting that their relationship wasn’t exactly sunshine and rainbows. Yet, he did express regret over his language, insisting he wouldn’t return to the court again.
Evans has a past experience of homelessness—something he’s spoken about candidly. Although he has a place to stay now, he continues to face financial struggles, sometimes resorting to begging in subways. While he’s committed to moving forward, it’s clear he’s still navigating a challenging path.
