Meet Tony Mann, 28, and Roxanne Gilder, 33—a couple caught by South Wales Police while knee-deep in the world of cocaine dealing. The police got the inside scoop by analysing messages on their phones, which revealed their role in directing drug runners to supply customers.

On August 23, officers busted Mann carrying £205 in cash and an incriminating mobile in Tylorstown. A follow-up raid at Gilder’s home on Penrhys Road uncovered a goldmine of evidence, including 118g of cocaine, a tick list of drug debts, a knuckleduster, and even more cash hidden in a bottle!

At Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court, Mann confessed to possession and supply of cocaine, with a colourful rap sheet showcasing six previous convictions. Gilder, who had kept a clean slate until now, also pleaded guilty to similar charges.

Judge Vanessa Francis didn’t hold back, telling Mann his actions weren’t just a “corner drug dealer” scenario. This was a slick operation involving several players, all organised to settle his drug debts. Meanwhile, Gilder’s involvement was portrayed as minor compared to Mann’s.

The gavel came down hard: Mann received 57 months behind bars. Gilder’s punishment was lighter, with a 21-month sentence suspended for 24 months and a 15-day rehab requirement.
