Local Authorities in Cardiff Bust Shop Owner for Illegally Distributing Vaping Products to Minors

🚨 Caught in the Act! 🚨 A Cardiff shop owner was found selling vapes to kids at Corner Mini Market on Cowbridge Road East. Jihad Abass Subhan was caught red-handed after a Trading Standards sting operation revealed repeated sales of harmful nicotine products to underage buyers. Despite a warning in March 2025, Subhan continued these illegal sales and got caught again in April.

When questioned, Subhan claimed he was “distracted” during a phone call while selling to minors, but that’s no excuse! 💨 He failed to show up for his sentencing this week and was slapped with hefty fines: £2,000 for him personally and an identical fine for his company. Both were also hit with additional surcharges and costs.

Cllr Ed Stubbs from Cardiff Council stressed, “This significant fine should send a clear message: proper checks must be carried out before selling nicotine products to customers.” 📢

Let’s hope this serves as a warning to other shop owners in the area. Protecting our young ones from harmful products is everyone’s responsibility! What do you think about this case? Drop your thoughts below! 👇
