Residents near the beautiful Traeth Llanddwyn Beach on Anglesey are outraged as visitors cause chaos by blocking roads and paths. Despite increased parking fees, crowds keep coming, leaving locals stuck in their own village! By 9:30am on a recent bank holiday Tuesday, the beach’s car park was jam-packed, forcing tourists to park wherever they could find space.

Some parked illegally on residential roads, blocking driveways and junctions. “I thought someone was having a party until I realised they were all beachgoers,” said one local. Residents are demanding action, with calls for “Parking for residents only” signs and “No Parking” cones for each household to tackle the issue.

Angry residents are taking matters into their own hands, documenting the chaos with photos and videos, ready to present the evidence to Anglesey Council. There’s even a push for a park-and-ride scheme to manage the visitor surge during peak seasons.

Despite efforts like new traffic signs and an ANPR system to alleviate the traffic problems, the summer madness continues. It was a scorching bank holiday, marking the start of the half-term break, and the traffic management system seemed to fail miserably as the first major visitor surge hit.

Anglesey Council released a statement urging visitors to park responsibly while Natural Resources Wales continues to monitor illegal camping. Yet, with 100,000 extra visitors expected for the Eisteddfod, it’s clear that more needs to be done to protect the local charm of Newborough.
