The patient, who could only communicate with his eyes, bravely reported that Davies repeatedly squeezed his genitals, applied a burning substance for cleaning, and repositioned him roughly, causing him to cry out in pain. On top of this physical mistreatment, there’s evidence of verbal abuse too. Davies allegedly mocked Patient A for his only means of communication and insulted him during an outdoor break in front of his family.

Despite Davies’ denials, the Nursing and Midwifery Council thoroughly investigated and found all allegations were true. The investigation kicked off in 2021 after Patient A’s wife reported these abuses. Davies was removed from the nursing register following the panel’s findings of severe misconduct. He was also accused of failing to grasp the gravity of his actions or showing understanding of their impact on the patient’s well-being.

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board responded, emphasising their commitment to patient safety and dignity. They took immediate action once informed, ensuring Davies was no longer able to practice in his role.
