Month-Long Closure Set for High-Traffic Cardiff Road Section

If you’re travelling around Cardiff this summer, be prepared for some road disruptions! A significant portion of Bute Street will be completely closed to traffic for over a month, from 7.30pm on Friday, 24th July until 1st September. This is all to allow roadworks to prep for exciting new Crossrail developments.

But don’t worry, pedestrian access will remain open throughout, so you’ll still be able to walk through. Here’s what you need to know if you’re driving:

– Bute Street, from Maria Street to North Church Street, will be off-limits for vehicles.
– North Church Street can only be accessed via Callaghan Square.
– Maria Street is open only from Bute Street’s southern end.
– The lane reductions in Callaghan Square will stick around.
– Specific closure times on North Church Street: 9pm on 24th July to 6am on 27th July.

While Cardiff Council apologises for any inconvenience this might cause, they assure us the work will be done as swiftly as possible to keep disruption to a minimum.
