🎨 Exciting News for Art Lovers in Wales! 🎨

A powerful piece of art that really hits home about the challenges facing Welsh communities has officially been added to the National Museum Wales collection!

Carwyn Evans’ striking installation, ‘Unlliw’, is made up of 6,500 hand-made bird boxes cleverly arranged to resemble a swirling flock around a pillar. First created in 2002 and showcased in 2011, this piece was Evans’ reaction to Ceredigion council’s significant housing plans and the potential impact on rural life. It’s now secured a permanent home at the National Museum Cardiff.
Gallery TEN, hosting Evans’ works in their current exhibition titled ‘Peth’na’, shared the brilliant news with their followers, expressing how thrilled they are for ‘Unlliw’ to join the national collection. The piece is renowned for highlighting the ongoing agricultural crisis and the cultural fabric of rural Wales, resonating deeply with visitors and becoming a favourite at the museum.
Evans’ art uniquely combines natural, found, hand-crafted, and industrial materials, each piece beautifully balancing artistry and cultural significance. The rawness and the meticulous crafting shine through, with Evans’ careful touch bringing everything together with a meaningful impact.
Don’t miss TEN’s exhibition celebrating Evans’ work – it’s on until Saturday, April 11. Whether you’re a long-time fan or just discovering his art, it’s a must-see!
