More than 1.4 million eligible households have received these crucial £25 payments thanks to the cold snap we’re experiencing. If you’re on pension credit or certain benefits, keep an eye out for a little extra in your bank account. Payments are triggered automatically when temperatures hit zero degrees Celsius or below for seven days in a row. No need to apply—it’s all done for you!

This support couldn’t come at a better time, ensuring vulnerable folks stay warm as the chill sets in. The initiative is tied to one of 71 Met Office weather stations, making sure that wherever you are, if it’s cold enough, you’ll get the help you need. 🌬️📉

Minister Torsten Bell highlights that alongside these payments, the biggest ever Pension Credit campaign and the Triple Lock commitment are also working to keep pensioners supported during these frigid months.

Just last week saw 17 weather stations activate payments, 14 for the very first time this winter. In total, the government has distributed nearly 1.5 million payments, tallying up to a whopping £36.2 million so far. The cold weather payment scheme runs from 1st November to 31st March, so fingers crossed for milder weather ahead!

If you’re eligible, sit tight as funds should arrive within two weeks. And remember, this winter, take care and stay cosy! 🌨️❤️
