Sad news for Cardiff foodies – the popular Mugshot steakhouse in the city centre has unexpectedly shut its doors. Known for its 1920s-inspired décor and unique dining experience, where diners cooked steak on hot stone plates, this spot was a hit with locals and visitors alike.

Despite rave reviews and a 4.6-star rating from 275 Google reviews, the closure seems rather sudden. Influencers were just praising their meals here in late March! The closure might puzzle some, considering its potential as the brand’s “flagship” restaurant.

The Cardiff branch, which opened in November 2024 and took over the site of the former Barocco Bar, was led by Adam Bryan and his partner Zowie Yip. While Cardiff’s location has ceased operations, their original branch in Bristol is still serving up sizzling plates.

No official statement has been released yet regarding why Mugshot Cardiff closed, although equipment was seen being moved out the week before Easter. Whether you’re reminiscing about their high-quality sirloins or never got the chance to visit, let’s hope those sizzling hot stones might make a comeback someday!
