Exciting changes are on the horizon for the Afan Valley! 🚧 Neath Port Talbot Council is rolling out the Cymmer Carriageway Realignment Project, aiming to boost safety and road access for local communities. This ambitious plan includes realigning roads and potentially demolishing a “failing” railway bridge at the eastern end of Maesteg Road.

The proposal could transform the area, affecting routes around Cymmer, Glyncorrwg, and Abercregan. It even includes plans for new roads and improved parking at Cymmer Community Library. Plus, there are discussions about relocating Cymmer Health Centre, which would be decided in another consultation.

But it’s not just about roads! The £20m investment, part of the UK Government Pride in Place funding, is set to help boost local disadvantaged neighbourhoods over the next decade. 💷✨
Local residents have a say in this transformation! The council’s public consultation is now open and runs until June 24, 2026. Have your voice heard and give feedback on the proposed designs. Three public events are scheduled, so pop along for a chat:
📍 Cymmer Methodist Church: Monday, June 1, 10am – 5pm
📍 Croeserw Community Enterprise Centre: Thursday, June 4, 1pm – 8pm
📍 The Refreshment Rooms: Saturday, June 6, 10am – 1pm
