Big day for Wales! The 2026 Senedd Election is happening on Thursday, 7th May, and it’s your chance to help shape the future of Welsh politics. Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm, giving everyone plenty of time to cast their vote.

This election is more exciting than ever, with major changes in the voting system and constituencies. Instead of the usual 60, a whopping 96 politicians will be elected through a new system where the number of elected candidates from each party reflects their share of the votes. Those top of the party lists will get the nod first – an intriguing shift for Welsh politics.

Votes won’t be counted overnight. Instead, they’ll be tallied up throughout Friday, 8th May. Expect a bit of suspense as declaration times roll in! Do note, these times are estimates and could vary due to unforeseen delays. Here’s a sneak peek of when to watch out for results:
– Afan Ogwr Rhondda: 3:30pm
– Bangor Conwy Mon: 3pm
– Blaenau Gwent Caerffili Rhymni: 3pm
– Casnewydd Islwyn: 2pm
– Fflint Wrecsam: 5:30pm
And plenty more! Each region has its moment, so keep your eyes peeled.
Whether you’re a seasoned voter or a first-timer, make sure your voice is heard. This election is pivotal for Wales, redefining how we elect our leaders and making history with a larger Senedd.
