ππ Attention skywatchers across Wales! Get ready for an astronomical delight set to dazzle us on Wednesday, August 12th β the most dramatic solar eclipse we’ve seen in almost 30 years! π

The partial solar eclipse is the main event, with the moon sliding between Earth and the sun, casting its shadow and obscuring up to 94% of the sun in Pembrokeshire. Cardiff, London, and Bristol will see 90% coverage, making this a must-see spectacle. Mark your calendars! ποΈ

π The eclipse kicks off at 6:17 pm, reaches its peak at 7:12 pm, and wraps up by 8:06 pm. Timing may vary slightly depending on where you are, but wherever you are in the UK, it’s set to be an unforgettable sight.
For those across the Irish Sea, head to the south-western tip of Ireland for an even more intense view, with up to 97.5% of the sun covered. Across Europe, places like France, Belgium, and northern Italy will experience 88% to 95% coverage.
π Remember, NEVER look directly at the sun! Always use specially designed solar viewing glasses or approved solar filters to protect your eyes. Ordinary sunglasses won’t cut it!
This celestial event will be the deepest eclipse visible from the UK since 1999. And if you’re a fan of total eclipses, you’ll be waiting until 2090 for the next one in the UK! Until then, letβs make the most of this incredible partial eclipse.
Don’t miss out on what promises to be a breathtaking experience β nature putting on its very own light show! πβ¨
