In a dramatic and disturbing case, former Swansea Plough Colts FC chairman, Nicky O’Connor, has been found guilty of multiple sexual offences. Following a two-week trial, O’Connor, a 35-year-old from Swansea, was convicted on 12 counts of sexual assault, attempted assault, and exposure.

Across 2023 and 2024, O’Connor exploited his roles within the community, including as a taxi driver, to commit these heinous acts. The offences took place at various locations, including wedding venues in Carmarthenshire and business areas in Merthyr.

Despite his denials, the jury found O’Connor guilty of exposing himself and committing sexual assaults at several sites, including a sports venue in Morriston and a supermarket car park at Swansea Enterprise Zone.

O’Connor claims that ongoing medical issues with “pain and discomfort” led him to wear shorts frequently, accepting that this might have led to unintentional exposure. However, the court disagreed, and he was found guilty of intentional exposure with the intent to cause alarm or distress.

As O’Connor awaits sentencing on December 19, it’s crucial to remember the available support for victims of abuse. Organisations like Lifecentre, NAPAC, One in Four, Safeline, The Survivors Trust, and Rape Crisis England & Wales offer essential resources and support for those affected by sexual violence.

Let’s stand together against such appalling offences and support all survivors in seeking justice and healing. 💙
