🚨 Important Health Alert 🚨

A major health warning has been issued by Hywel Dda University Health Board for those planning to visit hospitals in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, and Pembrokeshire. If you’re feeling under the weather, it’s crucial to think twice before visiting anyone in the hospital. 🤒
If you’ve got symptoms like flu, a respiratory infection, or any gastric issues such as diarrhoea or vomiting—or if you’ve been around someone showing these signs—it’s best to hold off on that hospital visit. This caution comes as we try to prevent the spread of infections, which can be particularly harmful to vulnerable patients. 🏥

Rebecca Richards, the head of infection prevention, emphasises, “While we love having visitors who support our patients, illnesses like flu and gastroenteritis can easily spread, especially during this season. Your visit can wait until you’re symptom-free, ensuring our hospitals remain a safe space for recovery.”
And if you’ve got a hospital appointment and aren’t feeling 100%, give them a call to check if it needs rescheduling. Your health—and the health of everyone in the hospital—comes first! 📞
Remember, wintertime is the flu season, kicking off earlier this year, and with past years seeing severe impacts, it’s vital to stay cautious and ensure infections don’t spread. Last year saw nearly 8,000 flu-related deaths, so let’s all do our part to keep each other safe. 💪🌡️
