Haven Holiday Park is facing criticism after a group of teenagers, led by 18-year-old Leah Ankers, were refused entry at Hafan y Mor and escorted off the site as night fell. Leah and her friends had travelled from Wrexham for a celebratory trip in honour of her 18th birthday, only to be turned away upon arrival.

Leah’s family claims the booking was cancelled due to a failed identity check, with Haven insisting on seeing a bank card she didn’t carry as she uses her phone for payments. Leah even had her birth certificate but it wasn’t accepted. Despite Leah’s mother offering to drive two hours with the bank card, the park personnel refused and had security remove the group just as it was getting dark, leaving them stranded.
Haven explained their policy requires the lead booker to be at least 21 and highlighted that automatic identification checks are mandatory for securing bookings. They stated that they had tried reaching out to Leah multiple times to resolve the issue but received no response. Both reservations were refunded, but Leah’s family is considering legal action over the handling of the situation.

The group eventually found accommodation at another holiday park, but Leah’s mother remains outraged, accusing Haven of disregarding the safety of her daughter and friends. “If they didn’t want a group of young people, why allow them to book in the first place?” she questions.
Haven maintains that safety and security are their top priorities, stating their measures are in place to ensure all guests have a secure experience. What do you think about this situation? Was it fair, or did Haven go too far? Let us know your thoughts!
