Former Sky Sports host Richard Keys has reignited his long-standing feud with TV presenter Laura Woods. It all kicked off earlier this year following Keys’ controversial tribute to Welsh football legend Terry Yorath. Woods wasn’t impressed and publicly called Keys out, labelling him with a rather unflattering term. 😳
The controversy started after Keys’ tribute to Yorath, who passed away at 75. Keys mentioned that Yorath’s daughter, Gabby Logan, landed a job at Sky because he knew her dad. Many on social media thought his words were “weird” and “narcissistic,” including Woods, who expressed her shock in no uncertain terms.
Keys later tried to clarify his words, insisting they were misunderstood. But it seems the fallout still stings. In a chat with The Telegraph, Keys didn’t apologise or back down. Instead, he asked Woods to cut him some slack. “A little bit more respect, please,” he said. 🤔
Keys has been living back in the UK after a long stretch with beIN Sports in Qatar. He and Andy Gray moved there after their infamous exit from Sky Sports in 2011, following leaked footage of them making inappropriate comments about a female referee. Reflecting on his past, Keys admitted he and Gray were “bullies” in the industry.
