Tragedy struck at Swan Pool, West Bromwich, where a 55-year-old woman sadly lost her life after getting into trouble in the water. Emergency services, including specialist water rescue teams, rushed to the scene around 4.45pm but despite their rapid response and valiant efforts, they were unable to save her.
Firefighters from the West Midlands Fire Service, alongside West Midlands Police and Ambulance Service, were all hands on deck within minutes upon receiving the distress call. A heartfelt statement from the fire service expressed: “Very sadly, despite the very best efforts of West Midlands Fire Service and our partners, a 55-year-old woman died at the scene. Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time.”
