In heartbreaking news, 24-year-old Chloe Ferris tragically passed away on a night out celebrating her birthday. Found unresponsive in a nightclub toilet in Belfast, Chloe’s inquest revealed she had taken a dangerous mix of cocaine, ketamine, and alcohol. This combination, described as potentially “lethal,” ultimately led to her untimely death.

Chloe had been enjoying a night with friends, having drinks at home and later visiting a bar in Belfast City Centre before heading to Lux nightclub. According to her friends, using cocaine was out of character for Chloe, but she had decided to purchase it that evening. CCTV footage showed Chloe entering the toilet with a friend at around 1.17am. After 30 minutes with no sign of movement, concerned staff called emergency services. Despite paramedics’ best efforts, Chloe could not be revived and was declared dead within the hour.

The inquest highlighted the severe risks of combining drugs and alcohol, emphasising that even small doses can have unpredictable and dangerous effects. Coroner Joe McCrisken noted that the cocaine Chloe had purchased might have been unknowingly mixed with ketamine. He agreed with Chloe’s father, who compared drug use to “playing Russian roulette.”
McCrisken issued a warning, urging others to think twice before taking similar risks. The tragedy serves as a stark reminder to all about the dangers of substance misuse and the importance of looking out for one another. Chloe’s death is still under investigation.
Stay safe, look after your friends, and always be mindful of the risks you take.
