💸 Masking themselves with multiple company names and hiding payments in various accounts, they fooled dozens into surrendering hefty sums of money for unnecessary work. One devastated customer lost £100,000! Their deceitful practices spanned over five-and-a-half years, raking in almost half-a-million pounds, even after their initial arrest.

🔨 The work done was not just overpriced but dangerously poor in quality. Surveyors and other builders stepping in to repair the damage were appalled, labelling Janes and James as cowboys pretending to know their craft.

👩‍⚖️ Judge Catherine Richards described their actions as “cruel and callous,” with no regard for the shattered lives they left behind. The pair, who have shown no remorse, have been sentenced to eight years each. They’ll serve 40% of their sentences in prison before being released on licence.

🔒 This case highlights the importance of being vigilant when hiring tradespeople. Double-check credentials and seek trustworthy recommendations to avoid falling prey to fraudulent builders like these. Let’s ensure that our friends and family don’t become the next victims of such scams! 🏡
