🎉 Milestone for Love in Wales! 🌈

Big news from the Church in Wales – they’ve just voted to permanently bless same-sex marriages! This follows a five-year trial run since 2021, where couples could have their love celebrated with a church blessing. While same-sex marriages can’t yet be officially conducted by the church, this is a huge step in the right direction.

Here’s the scoop: the governing body voted with overwhelming support to cement blessings for same-sex marriages and civil partnerships. The motion sailed through with a two-thirds majority from lay members, clergy, and bishops. The language they’ve developed will now be part of the Book of Common Prayer! 📖
But what does this mean? Individual clergy can still choose whether or not to offer these blessings, but the option is officially on the table. It’s all about progress and inclusion, while respecting different perspectives across the church community.
Archbishop Cherry Vann shared that the debate was marked by calm and mutual respect, highlighting the image of God in each of us and the importance of making space for everyone’s views.
And there’s more on the horizon! By April 2027, further proposals could pave the way for equal marriage within the church, aligning church law with state law. The conversation has definitely begun!
Here’s to celebrating love in all its forms! 💒💖✨ #LoveIsLove #EqualityMatters #ChurchInWales
