Heartbreaking news from Merthyr Tydfil as a vibrant young soul, Mia-Mai Grace Williams, has tragically passed away at just 12 years old. Known as a “fit, happy and healthy” child, Mia-Mai had shown no signs of illness when she suddenly collapsed at her grandparents’ home. An inquest revealed she likely succumbed to a cardiac arrest triggered by an infection, just a day after being discovered unresponsive.
Mia-Mai was first taken to Prince Charles Hospital, and then transferred to Noah’s Ark at the University Hospital of Wales. Despite all efforts, she could not be saved and passed away on August 11, 2024.
The post-mortem identified myocarditis, a cardiac infection, as the cause of the cardiac arrest that led to Mia-Mai’s untimely passing. The inquest concluded that her death was from natural causes due to multiple organ dysfunction resulting from this condition.
