This beloved hospice has been a beacon of care for nearly 18 years, offering day care, symptom management, and nursing to those with life-limiting illnesses across Pembrokeshire.

Since its inception in 1997, through the generous gift of a house on Nun Street and a dedicated fundraising effort, Shalom House became a vital lifeline for many. Its official opening on November 23, 2007, marked the start of many years of compassionate service.

Despite valiant efforts, including the “Save Shalom House” campaign that extended its operations, sustainable funding remained elusive. The charity announced, “With a heavy heart, we are left with no choice but to close.”

The heartfelt statement acknowledged the outpouring of community support and praised the dedicated clinical staff, volunteers, and administration team. “Your kindness and generosity gifted us precious extra years to serve our community,” they shared.

From organising fundraising events to supporting charity shops, the Pembrokeshire community’s involvement has been invaluable. The hospice’s legacy will forever remain a testament to the power of community spirit.

As the chapter closes on Shalom House, the remarkable impact made by this hospice will never be forgotten. 💙 Thank you to everyone who played a part in this journey. Your support has truly made a difference.
