🎉🚴♀️ Hundred Years Young and Ready to Ride! 🚴♀️🎉
Joan Lewis is celebrating a century like no other! Born on March 28, 1926, her life has been a whirlwind of incredible stories and cherished memories. And for her 100th birthday, she had one wacky wish: to take a spin on a motorbike!
While Joan initially dreamed of zooming down a zipline, the folks at Bryncelyn Care Home knew that a motorbike ride would light up her day. And they were right! Help poured in once they put out the call, and local biker Morris, 82, was ready to make her dream come true on a trike-style motorbike.
The anticipation spread like wildfire, with the local community rallying to ensure Joan’s adventure was unforgettable. For Joan, this ride was more than just a thrill—it was a nod to her past, remembering her dashing brother-in-law who inspired her. His Harley Davidson rides were legendary in her eyes, and now she finally gets to feel the wind in her hair.
In Joan’s vibrant 100 years, she’s seen everything from Neath Fairs to dancing nights at Port Talbot. She’s worked in shops, pubs, and even had a stint at the DVLA! Her zest for life never dulled, and neither did her role as the family’s matriarch.
Theresa, one of Joan’s children, describes her mum as “fantastic” and the pillar of the family. She’s thrilled her mother’s long-time dream is being realised, thanks to the incredible care team and the supportive community.
And when asked about her secret to a long life? Joan cheekily credits staying active, enjoying a nightly whiskey and lemonade, and, most importantly, “Keep taking your tablets!”
Here’s to Joan, the life of the party and proof that age is just a number when your spirit stays young. Happy 100th birthday, Queenie! 🎂❤️
