Arrested on suspicion of drug dealing, Garvey claims there’s been a “mix-up.” The case, unfolding at Bristol Crown Court, alleges Garvey was involved in the supply of cocaine and steroids, and even perverted the course of justice.
Garvey’s troubles began when his connection to a notorious crime group came to light. The solicitor, who once partnered with a prominent local law firm, is accused of buying cocaine for himself and friends. Messages found in a cheekily named WhatsApp group “The Old C***s” have raised eyebrows, with allegations he encouraged pals to buy the drug.
Adding to the intrigue, he represented his own alleged dealer, Daniel Baker, who was charged with conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. It’s claimed Garvey passed secret messages for Baker and his runner, Jake Blackburn, springing him into hot water.
During his arrest, police seized items including an iPhone, an iPad, and £3,000 in cash. Despite the evidence, Garvey insists he’s just a solicitor giving legal advice to an old friend. He claims the WhatsApp banter was harmless and that talk of drugs was just dark humour.
Garvey, fiercely denying all allegations, argues he never possessed or encouraged the use of drugs. He remains defiant, suggesting any money received was for legitimate expenses from nights out.
